EUD
An EUD trigger uses a player or unit value outside the game's tables to reach other parts of the game's memory. The editor's player pick has an EPD box that turns a memory address into the player value that reaches it.
A condition with a player value past the players and groups table reads memory outside its table. Deaths reads the 4 bytes at 0x58A364 + 4 × player + 48 × unit, for any player and unit number.
In 1.16.1 this works for reading only. Set Deaths, Set Resources and Set Score write nothing for a player above Player 8, and Set Deaths writes nothing for a unit number above 232, so 1.16.1 has no EUD writes.
StarCraft: Remastered has an EUD mode of its own. When it loads a map it looks through the triggers, disabled ones included, for a Deaths condition or a Set Deaths action whose player value is above 26 or is 12 (None), or whose unit number is above 232. One is enough to turn the mode on for the whole map, and a Deaths condition with None as its player counts. (Read in Remastered's code.)
In EUD mode, EUD conditions and Set Deaths use the addresses they would in 1.16.1, for the parts of the game's memory Remastered allows, and Set Deaths also writes Players 9 to 12's death counts. This is what EUD maps for Remastered, and the editor's TrigScript and Magenta plugins, are built on. In a map with no EUD trigger, Set Deaths writes nothing for Players 9 to 12, as in 1.16.1. (Found playing Remastered.)
None as a condition's player does not check anything: it reads the cell after Player 12's, which is Player 1's count of the next unit type. Deaths(None, unit 7) is Player 1's deaths of unit 8, and Accumulate(None, ore) is Player 1's gas.
